Ms. Sophia Wright is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) with a passion for helping children and families manage social, emotional, and behavioral concerns. Ms. Wright earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida in psychology and graduated with a 4.0 GPA for her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. Ms. Wright has a wealth of clinical experience utilizing behavioral, cognitive behavioral, behavioral parent management, and acceptance and commitment therapy techniques.
Ms. Wright started her clinical career in 2018 under the supervision of Dr. Jason Gallant at the Boys Town Central Florida Behavioral Health Clinic where she was introduced to the primary care pediatric psychology model. After Dr. Gallant’s departure, Ms. Wright worked extensively with behavioral pediatrics expert, Dr. Anhthony Nguyen, where she was thoroughly trained in behavioral management strategies, pediatric sleep concerns, emotional regulation skill development, anxiety treatment techniques, and helping parents effectively manage problematic concerns in the home. Following her Boys Town training, Ms. Wright joined Dr. Gallant to start her tenure at the Florida Center for Behavioral Health. Ms. Wright possesses a combination of sound clinical training, high quality education, and a dynamic disposition that will undoubtedly serve as an asset to the South Florida community.
Ms. Wright’s help seeking journey started at an early age. Growing up she found joy working with children through volunteer efforts with local organizations and churches situated in impoverished communities. She witnessed first-hand how mental health can often be neglected and saw the transformative power of providing empathy, acceptance, and hope to children and families in need. These formative experiences left an indelible impression on her interests and facilitated her journey towards pediatric mental health. To this day, she continues to serve her community. Most notably, Ms. Wright has worked with non-profits to provide free and low-cost behavioral health therapy services to families in need. On a personal note, Ms. Wright spends her free time traveling, enjoying sunsets, fitness, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
